More Choice

More Choice is a Taiwanese company that designs and builds molds that are used to produce carbon racing frames. It uses factories in China to produce the actual frames, but management is based in Taiwan. They do not have a website which is strange, but not uncommon for small Asian companies. My contact in Thailand has worked with them for a while and built up a bike using this frame. I saw it on my last trip to Thailand and I spotted right away that the frame once built up has a “voice”. This was remarkable given that it was built up entirely with unbranded components and wheels (Components and wheels are readily obtainable from the manufacturers as sample goods). Nevertheless, it still caught the eye. And so began my investigation of the industry and my conclusion that the U.S. consumer of performance cycling goods is paying a massive premium that is the result of a high cost distribution network, inefficient ordering practices and plain old price fixing. Furthermore, it became clear that Asian manufacturers of bicycle frames and components are innovating on their own and not relying on the Western bicycle companies to provide all of the ideas.

You are viewing a new 2009 More Choice MCR-01 47 cm road frame (SN: CG100100599). The frame set was purchased new last month through my contact in Thailand who sources wheels for his Italian company (DMX Pro) and frames and wheel goods for third parties. The frame set includes a full carbon front fork (SN: CG1001004804), a full carbon seat post with adjustable aluminum saddle clamp, a light weight metallic chain guard and an FSA headset. The frame is painted blue and white.  Total weight of the frame is 1,000 grams (2.2lbs). The seat collar is not included.
