Seat post

The seat post is carbon and 31.6 mm in diameter. The post length is 34 cm measured from the bottom to the base of the clamp. The seat post clamp is made out of aluminum and has two bolts. There is an adjustable washer below the forward bolt.

Down tube and chain stays

The down tube diameter is 5.4 cm. The chain stays are approximately 2 x 6 cm where they meet the bottom bracket shell and about 2 x 2 cm by the drop outs.  The seat tube diameter is 2.7cm.

Bottom bracket

The bottom bracket shell is aluminum and traditional English thread (BSA). The width of the bottom bracket is 68 mm. A cable guide for the derailleurs is mounted on the bottom of the frame. The bottom bracket looks traditional in its design relative to the oversized and more contiguous bottom bracket designs of Tarmacs and S2s. The intersection of the seat tube on the bottom bracket is defined and visible.

Replaceable but mysterious derailleur hanger

The replaceable derailleur hanger is threaded. It appears to be made from aluminum.  It affixes to the frame using two fasteners. The fasteners are about 21 mm apart center to center. The fasteners originate on the inner side of the drop out, which is unusual; most derailleur hangers seem to have fasteners that screw in from the outer side of the drop out. The hanger has a recessed hole on the inside of it presumably for the derailleur, but this feature again is unusual. A review of the derailleur hangers on the Wheels Manufacturing website does not show any hangers exactly like this one. Please see the following link: Wheels Manufacturing derailleur hangers

There are mounts for water bottle cages on the down tube and the seat tube. Cables run out side the frame.

The frame in the image is the smallest size available and comparable to a small or extra small size frame of other leading manufacturers. The frame’s geometry is generally similar to the geometry of the frames in the above table. Perhaps the most notable difference is that the frame’s head tube is shorter than head tube of the Trek 6 Series and the Specialized Tarmac series. Additionally, the head tube angle is 71 degrees compared to more than 72 degrees for most other frames.

Open Mold

The MCR-01 is made from an “open” mold. This means that More Choice owns the mold and can sell frames made from this mold to whoever wants to buy them. For example, ABC Bikes could order 100 frames and brand them as the Attack and sell them in the United States. DEF Bikes company could order 500 frames and brand them as the Sprinter and also sell them in the United States. To avoid the obvious embarrassment or scandal of having two identical frames sold by different companies under different brands, More Choice has designed the frame in such a way that the rear triangle (the seat tube, the chain stays and the seat stays) can be customized. For example, ABC Bikes could order a seat tube that has an aerodynamic look to it. This would become ABC Bikes’ proprietary mold; no other buyers would be able to use this combination.
