The business plan: commitment, timing

Frame and Wheel is committed to developing a business model that, using the principles of frugal innovation, combines the convenience, selection and price of the Internet with the community, support and service of the independent or local bike shop, Fortunately, Frame and Wheel has the commitment of others in this adventure: consumers are increasingly comfortable shopping on line, either from on line retailers or from eBay stores, and independent bicycle stores are still keen to develop new and existing relationships with their customers by offering good quality products and service at reasonable prices. Indeed, one cyclist told Frame and Wheel that he buys most of his accessories on eBay because of the fast shipping as well as the selection and price.
How this will all work out in practice continues to evolve, and it will take some time before there is a clear model. Frame and Wheel believes that it will take at least a year before the company is in a position to launch a new brand (it might take longer or it might not happen at all). Frame and Wheel imagines that during this development period, consumers and retailers can test the fully built up sample frames and provide comments and ideas, so that the company can be sure that it is allocating resources in a way that result in immediate value for its constituents. Simultaneously, Frame and Wheel Services will continue so that the company can learn more about the market and develop relationships with independent bicycle stores and consumers.
